It is a mixture of lauric esters of sorbitol and its anhydrides copolymerized with approximately 20 moles of ethylene oxide for each mole of sorbitol and anhydrides. The lauric acid used for esterification may contain varying amounts of other fatty acids. Clear, slightly opalescent, yellowish or yellowish-brown oily liquid, with a slight characteristic odor. The pH of the 5% aqueous solution is between 5 and 7. Miscible with water, dehydrated alcohol, methyl alcohol, dioxane, and ethyl acetate. Virtually insoluble in liquid paraffin and fixed oils.<\/p>",
