It occurs in the form of fibrils that, for the most part, are not cross-linked in young skin. With aging these fibrils become increasingly cross-linked, which manifests itself in reduced elasticity, lower water retention capacity and eventual wrinkles of the skin. Environmental influences, especially UV radiation, even accelerate this aging process in the connective tissue.<\/p>",
