Hot sulfuric acid decomposes it, with the separation of gelatinous silica. Washed or pure kaolin, or light kaolin, is porphyryized and washed kaolin, or pure aluminum silicate obtained by double decomposition. It is a white, voluminous, impalpable powder that is subdivided in water into very fine particles.
